Let’s get some inspiring media flowing into our lives!
Look, there’s a lot out there. An overwhelming amount. And today is meant to be a bit of a “breathe” day so you can circle back to days you need to revisit, dig back in on the comments or your journaling about what you’re experiencing, or — if it turns you on to do so — geek the eff out about your favorite ear candy and more.
Now, before we get into the WHAT of it, let’s really think about the WHY.
Listening to podcasts, watching TED Talks, doing a deep dive on Super Soul TV — these are all things that are meant to enhance your life, not distract you from what’s important, send you in a shame spiral for what you’ve not accomplished, or diminish your bliss.
Me? I’m not a podcast person. (She says as she preps for the next season of her hit podcast THE WORK.) It’s just not my thing. I love hosting the dang things, but when it comes to putting on a podcast and listening, I find my multitasking brain very quickly gets distracted in ways that frustrate me.
So, in case you too are a non-podcast person, today encompasses a few vids as well. We’re gonna share stuff that inspires us! Audiobooks, podcasts, vid series, anything that may stimulate another learning style than the one you most likely most frequently utilize… let’s get going on some of that.
By no means is this an exhaustive list — I would never try to create such a thing, as new goodies are being developed every day (hey, maybe you’ll be inspired to create your own host-based production after this) — but this is a good starting point if you’re new to this world! More are listed at the SMFA Ninjas Facebook group in this file.
This first cluster of goodies represent my absolute must-watch or must-listen items that never fail to inspire me in some way (yes, including my own work; you should love your work as if it’s a baby you proudly put into the world — anything less is to make that child feel “less than” and that’s no good for anyone).

Today’s work: Check out something you’ve not listened to or viewed before, from the world of podcasts and inspiring vids for creatives. Subscribe if you’re into it enough to want more! If you’re sharing faves below, don’t overload us! Just list your TOP THREE individual episodes so that discovery is more likely. If you’re advanced at this already, share your top tips for managing ear candy and other inspiring media. Extra credit: Come up with a concept for a show of your own! Make sure it aligns with your brand… and your passions outside of your own acting life.
See all of this as a means of staying plugged in as you go about your creative journey. Even if it’s one teeny episode or short vid you consume, it could fire you up for the whole day!
