In casting, we’re constantly on the phone with agents, talking through all the elements in an actor’s deal.
Obviously, there’s a lot of room to play here — we’ve got everything from the low-budget indie projects and spec pilots on up to major studio blockbusters — but knowing what your agent is talking through when she’s on the phone with casting, going line by line through your deal, can be incredibly empowering!
As you can see from the doc itself, this is an INTERNAL memo held by casting — and I’m certain there are new, updated versions of this doc with reference to the union by its new name, web usage considerations, etc., but this is a spectacular starting point for actors who want to be able to have next-tier convos with the team — like, y’know, “At what point do we make sure I’m on the poster?”
Note: I do not provide this so you can micromanage your team! (That’s not ninja.) The purpose here is to get you some insider details about how it all works so you can have more empowered convos with your team so they can negotiate the best deal on your behalf, even at earlier tiers than you may expect possible.
There’s jargon here, so please pop your questions in the comments if any of this seems confusing. I’m happy to jam with you about all of this and more!
Happy negotiating!
