Hello beautiful people!
Let’s prioritize our time.
If you’re like me though, you may still somehow find yourself stuck “in a loop” from time to time that makes getting down to business a little stickier than it should be. Further, if you’re regularly getting bossed around by your desk or your list — feeling like time management in general is more of a struggle than you’d prefer — the limits you set may need to be with yourself rather than with your notification settings.
Join me for a quick chat about getting off that mental hamster wheel.
It’s vitally important that you get out of that hamster wheel situation, whether it’s the thoughts that won’t let you sleep at night or the self-talk that says, “I always shoot crappy headshots,” because when you have anything playing on loop like that, it becomes the only thing people see about you.
Your loop of, “Don’t let them see how much I suck at meetings,” becomes their observation that you’re really uncomfortable in this meeting. Your focus on it becomes others’ focus on it. And we want everyone’s focus on how castable, professional, and talented you are!
Today’s work: Choose a time for “worry o’clock” — this is an hour for you to clock in for stinkin’ thinkin’ (and otherwise, you’re not clocked in for that). Get strict about your office hours too. Set an alarm for these limits and honor them as if your next-tier life depended on it. The structure will feel great for you and your creative soul will flourish within it! If you need to do more than set a time with this, set a place. (I’m a big fan of using the “critic spot” still to this day.)
Layering these tactics upon those that are already working for you will create so much additional support for your next-tier work! Try it! And share your best tips for making the most of your every moment below.
’til tomorrow… stay ninja!
