Hello beautiful people!
Let’s fantasize. Then let’s build in some habits today that get us there.
Habits of thought are some of the most powerful ammo we’ve got in this life. Given enough time, our habits become our identity. The reason I am adamant about the flips I use in diffusing negative self-talk is because I know the voice I hear more than anyone else’s is my own. That inner voice tells me what’s possible. That inner voice tells me who I am and what I’m going to be in the world. It’s powerful. So I’m always sure its most habit-based talent is one of empowerment. I’m the only one who can make that happen.
Here are some of the tools I use. Watch.
I encourage you to look for ways you can make a GOOD choice when you’re faced with any self-talk, any habit, any choice. No, it doesn’t always have to be good. Believe me, in my year of “I’m gonna lose a pound a week,” I had plenty of margarita nights to celebrate… anything. 😉 But I would consistently make more good choices than bad choices, and I’d make the good choices better than the bad choices were bad. So the extremes were always trending toward the positive in two ways simultaneously.
Mission: accomplished.
Today’s work: Start noticing your choices — especially where habits are concerned — and begin determining whether you’re trending upward toward your next-tier goals or downward (or sameward) from where you’re hoping to get unstuck. Answer the question: How would you behave if you were the best in the world at what you do?
Really think about your energy expenditure and consider what — from your current set of choices — gets to join you at the highest tier. Set up a few non-negotiables. And I mean truly NON-negotiable stuff. Commitments to yourself (like showing up here, for instance; you’re doing GREAT by the way!!) that won’t be blown off, because you know they’re going to be a part of your life at the next tier.
Share what it is that is on your list of how you’ll behave when you KNOW and TRUST that you are the best in the world at what you do. Share your non-negotiables. For me, by showing up for my morning mindfulness-in-motion practice I am better in service of all those who need my work in the world specifically because I started my day getting centered and focused and READY for all the stuff that comes after.
How ’bout you? What does your next-tier day look (and feel) like?
’til tomorrow… stay ninja!
