In prep for the release of his massive book — Tools of Titans — Tim Ferriss did an event at Creative Live entitled “How Billionaires, Icons, and World-Class Performers Master Productivity.” It streams free now and then and occasionally is available for purchase at the Creative Live website (which is a treasure trove for random free and low-cost online classes to expand your brain in all sorts of ninja ways).
In this Creative Live mini-course, Tim ran through 17 traits that high achievers share. I grabbed my journal and scribbled like a madwoman. It was great. Of course, I also put everything he shared through the SMFA filter because adapting these concepts to ninja use seemed way too valuable a challenge to pass up.
Turns out Tim *also* placed a version of these 17 things — this time as “17 Questions That Changed My Life” — at his blog. There are some variations in these two versions of the goods, and I’m thrilled to bring the best of all of this into a recipe for creatives, leaders that we are!
Listen up!
How do you interpret these 17 traits (or questions) and how will you adapt them (and improve upon them) for your own use?
Lemmeknow!
Added: More on fear-setting from Tim Ferriss’ TED Talk here.
Thanks for this. Lots to dive into. I love- When I am in a rush dress me slowly!

Isn’t that delicious? It reminds me to take that extra beat because when I don’t, I leave something crucial at home and there’s no time to run back and get it, or a make a mistake that was purely avoidable, etc. That extra beat can make such a difference!
Absolutely!
I’m only through #3 but holy Toledo! This is amazing stuff! Thank you, Bonnie! I love your examples about each trait. That expands my mind with possibilities.
Oh, yay, Laura! <3 I was worried I was making the audio too damn long by sharing personal examples but I felt it made it all so much more relatable by doing so. Glad you agree! We jammed about this a bit more in the Facebook group so I hope you checked out that replay too. XO
Hi Bon, I still stand by how helpful it is to hear your POV on the traits. And thank you for sharing the bonus items! 🙂 I went to the FB video first, but I felt like I was missing the foundation of the traits so I came back here to get this first 🙂
Oh definitely! This first! YES! 😀
Oh this was a great section – a lot of these items resonated with me, such as what is the worst that can happen. I have been doing that a lot and it also helps make this analytical brain of mine make faster decisions. I am getting better with the 80/20 and where my energy goes, I definitely love being nonrushed and I cherish my alone time doing absolutely nothing! And I love my long drives to auditions lol and arriving places early to breathe and thensome. My BB definitely got me into the mindset of having fun and saving for retirement together, he has a wonderful nest egg but definitely believes that we need to enjoy life now and not when he is retired, so he was prone to spend a lot now as now we both spend a lot of things that make us happy, but at the same time we are saving for retirement as well. And this fits part of my brand of living, because we are never promised tomorrow. But we still need to be prepared for tomorrow as well. I love all of these…I definitely never complain I don’t have the money for training etc…time is valuable like money, and the time I spend on what matters the most, may not look the best compared to another artist with a list of coaches, training classes, etc., but I know that I am prepared as I can be on my choices to either sit and do nothing about it or do what I can with what I have.
