Hello beautiful people!

Our October 2022 meeting will take place on Friday, October 14th at 11:30am PDT at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85965793555 and its replay will live on this page within a day of the live mastermind session.
Reminder: That’s your Zoom link for all of our 2022 JFDI hotseat sessions. Keep it handy! And keep an eye on my events calendar for any changes to our dates (time will always be 11:30am Pacific). So excited for where we’ll GROW from here!
If you’d like a refresh on any of the JFDI with Bon curriculum goodness without having to comb through alllllllll the content we’ve covered since March 2020, check out this lovely orientation page over here. Yay!
Reminders:
~ We are always taking our clients on a journey from BEFORE to AFTER. Make sure your marketing materials, sales pages, free content, emails, social media messages, etc., all align with telling that story so the RIGHT buyer can see themselves in what you present to them.
~ Having a framework helps you know where your clients are getting stuck (and that helps you create things that help them get un-stuck). Offering up the framework doesn’t change buyers into DIY-ers. It allows DIY-ers to have something to use (NBD) and it really helps buyers see where they need your help (and you have offers at each step of the offer triangle to be sure they can GET your help).
~ You’ve GOT this. It’s a lot to run a business and it’s just always happening. š Just keep enjoying yourself and creating things that light up your buyers AND keep you lit up too. Baby steps are still steps and when you’re stressed out, tap it out! (Thanks, Dana.)
As always, I love seeing you do the workout, out there. Continue the convo in the comments below and be sure you tag me and use #JFDIwithBon out on social media so we can *all* celebrate you as you build your best life!
All my love,
Reposting this from the September page. The updated version of my tripwire QuickStart Guide. plus an update at the end.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sqG-sHTDUO_c11cIaU8sdL7SWECmN8lM/
Did I sleep last night? No. I have been working on this. I realize that I am too close to this thing to be objective. So I need yall to just take a look at it and let me know if this works!
This is with Bonnieās suggestions. I added amazon affiliate links to everything except Ableton which apparently isnāt sold there. I also got link redirects so I could put my domain links on there. Shoutout to Pretty Links WordPress plugin. Free version.
I added additional slots for MIND, BODY, & SOUL and redirected them to another page where i offered private coaching. I added additional pages to kind of sell me as a teacher and an about me.
I made a Private Coaching page on my site.
https://www.quietentertainer.com/private-coaching/
I kinda took it straight from Bonnieās page and tweaked the language a bit. I couldnāt figure out how to do a form so I just made a button that takes you to a google form.
The RESISTANCE to sitting down and doing this was at an all time high. Every time I would get home from work, Iād suddenly be too tired to do anything.
I think I tweaked one of Stephanieās suggestions too. I deleted some unnecessary sentences. I also changed every instance of deejaying to DJ-ing. I donāt know which is right. haha. Okay if yall let me know itās okay, iām gonna send this to people. But let me know.
UPDATE: I sent it to my email list of 603 people. Also posted it on facebook and IG. I had two people get it from IG, zero from FB, and 12 unique clicks from my email list. I’m feeling like i’ve done a lot and hit a roadblock. I don’t know if it was good. just trying to trust the process.
Way to go!! This new version looks stellar, Greg. It’s all the same information, but the adjustments in presentation make it pop more. I also feel like I get more of you in the doc, just by the additions of the opening letter and closing pages. I’d love to see all the links be clickable. That’s totally do-able in Canva, and they will remain clickable when you export/download as a PDF from there. Right now, when I open your document on my system, none of them are clickable.
As a next step, I’d want to see this carry into your private coaching page! Use the same colors, photos, fonts… make it feel like a continuation from the PDF so it’s one smooth journey. Also, I’d suggest you remove the “sign in required” feature on your Google form. You could even embed the form in the web page, though it’s certainly not necessary. The button does the same job. š
Applause for your work on this!
Did a bunch of brainstorming around what a #30SecondBallets Day might look like, and thought Iād opt for a check-in. This oneās a bit messy and in-progress, but Iām telling my brain thatās what this space is for. š
Iām still feeling Nov. 18 as a good day for this, with the goal of upping Amazon ranking, sales numbers, and reviews to be primed for Black Friday/Sales Wave #1. On this day, possible ideas include:
-Reduce the price of the books to encourage book sales (donāt love this idea, discounting the flagship makes me a little twitchy, but it will be effective)
-Capture those buyers into the mailing list by offering something with receipt (maybe a PDF of all the video links in the books, a coupon for the worksheet packet, or a link to a virtual #30-Themed Jeopardy game?)
-Incentivize Amazon reviews with a giveaway (Could be any of the above items, but my sister does vinyl Cricut decals, too. She could whip something up. Last time I tried incentivizing though, I had almost zero engagement.)
Then, during my second wave sometime between Dec. 10-20, I could employ some more general incentives (not necessarily Amazon) like:
-Purchase the Beyond The Books Online Course during the selected period, and receive an invitation to a Live Watch Party on Zoom (This feels dicey to me though⦠Iām not sure Iāll meet the kill number, and time zones are a pain.)
-The above could also be purchase the course, get the book(s) free (I can drop-ship from KDP.)
-Reward social media posting of the books with a free resource (maybe a Spotify class playlist out of The Corps Collection vault, Youtube playlist of Nutcrackers from around the world to share, plus a shout-out on my own IG?)
-Free printable bookmarks
-Free printable greeting card to go with a book being gifted
-Possibly some sort of limited edition mini-coaching or virtual Q&A package (could be for a teacher to bring into her class, could be for the dancer receiving the books as a gift)
I also intend to amp up social media engagement with a daily advent calendar of some kind (maybe just pulling the photos from the Corps Collection), using engaging posts like trivia/questions/would you rathers, and resharing all the things when tagged.
Iām leaning away from pushing The Corps Collection because it seems to be on life support. I did vow to give it until December, but itās not getting traction. Iāve had all 3 beta testers drop, and am currently sitting with one member each in the main collection and the class playlist-only version. Iām wondering if this vault is more of a bundle/bonus item than the standalone membership I envisioned.
Anyway, thatās where I am on this so far. Hope everyoneās month has gone well! See yāall on Zoomā¦
Re: Not getting a lot of engagement when doing things to incentivize sales, here’s what’s important to note: We’re not actually trying to up engagement. It doesn’t really matter if no one downloads the bonus or is excited about the contest they’re entering by uploading their receipt at your site or whatever. The goal has 2 parts.
1: Become #1 for the day at Amazon so you have that cred, those screenshots, that reason to boast/boost all over social.
2: Sell some books/get some new mailing list members/create superfans out of folks who may have been less likely to try it ’til there was some incentive — EVEN IF THEY NEVER ENGAGE.
It’s like coupons. They don’t exist to help people save money or even to get anyone to buy that particular thing! They exist to:
1. Create brand loyalty. (Cutting out the coupon = person feels more connected to the brand.)
2. Appear generous/thoughtful. (Just seeing the coupon = “I like them.”)
3. Create a must-buy relationship. (Oh, shit! This is about to expire. I have to use this!)
This last one is especially cool because it triggers a relationship with the brand that is a SHOULD. And that sticks with us (it lives in the SHAME part of the primal brain; very powerful) long after that one experience. We continue to feel the pressure of a must-buy even without incentives, if this trigger hooked us.
The majority of coupons printed are never cut out.
The majority of coupons cut out are never redeemed.
The majority of coupons redeemed are done so by couponers. People who do discount shopping for a LIVING. It’s a sport for them. They do not become loyal to any brand through the use of coupons; they are loyal to the best deal. Price shoppers. š They don’t develop brand loyalty.
That last part is why actors can’t treat marketing like sending out postcards to everyone, spamming everyone with emails or texts or tweets or whatever. Casting directors are not price shoppers. Extras/background casting directors on the other hand? Sure. But then actors don’t have to market to them; just get on their list.
Excited to see how your big day goes!!
Quick pop-in to say I cracked 100 subscribers on my mailing list! I’m at a stable 102 (and that’s after surviving a few unsubs recently). Yay!
I’ve been sending things as they are launched to this list (each Corps Collection month, the online course, etc.), but it might be high time to develop a regular newsletter-y something. Maybe for January launch? I don’t want to overload myself while also driving holiday sales (since it’s historically my strongest sales period), and I don’t want to overload my list when they’ll already be drowning in holiday recital madness.
Anyway, just wanted to mark the milestone!
Congrats stephanie! 100 subscribers is great! Can I see your email capture?
Tee hee, thank you!!
The actual capture module lives here: https://mailchi.mp/2b5cee26d53c/30secondballetscomplimentary
But, people don’t land there first. They get to it from clicking a “Free Chapter” button here: http://www.30SecondBallets.com
This was the best way I could get MailChimp to play with my site. I could never get the pop-up version to work, nor the embedded form. There’s some sort of competing code, and I wasn’t feeling up to migrating my whole site from WordPress.com to .org to gain access to it, then learn all the code to fix it. ;p
Yayayayayayayay!
So excited for you!
Definitely get some regular (non-sales) content going even if you’re concerned about their overwhelm. It’s precisely BECAUSE this is the time of year we have 1234567890 things in our email inbox every day that it’s a good time to build the muscle for consistent shares that are NOT selling anything. That value-filled quick-tip email will stand out for exactly that reason. š
Of course, do it when it feels right. But don’t NOT do it right now because of what you think people are feeling about email. š I know it sounds counter-intuitive, but this is the time of year to be emailing like WHOA.
I hear you.
Back in September, I 5x5ed myself weekly content for the rest of the year for IG, so I could theoretically repurpose that into a mini weekly newsletter from now until January. Here’s a photo, here’s a quote, here’s a fun fact…
As I mentioned, The Corps Collection membership is on life support. Going forward, repurposing all that work into a newsletter might be a way to transform it into something else. Not sure I really want to shackle myself to a weekly newsletter, yet. We’ll see how I feel about it after a holiday test run. š
No one says it has to be weekly. It just has to be consistent. You tell your readers how often they’ll be reading and… there it is. š Daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly, whenever the F I feel like it… all of these are options that work! Remember to have fun!
Finally caught up on the replay! Lovely to see your faces and think about the framework tool. I need a little more data working with my clients, I think this is a good Q1 2023 project for me.
Accountability/encouragement time: I’m continuing to roll out my IG reel series and have a plan for my next IG reel series! Two more vids in the current one, then content strategy and plot out the next one, then hopefully using all that content to create my lead magnets. Proud of myself for continuing to truck along while I’m carrying a larger client load than expected! Definitely increased my capacity this year.
Rock on!! And your reels are looking great. š
We’re proud of you too, Jaki! Well done and well doing!!
Could I ask for some eyes on this? I havenāt really brought this to JFDI much, but I think Iāve mentioned it beforeā¦
Long story short, I custom write and record pre-show announcement voiceovers for dance studios as TheDancerSpeaks.com. I tailor them to the studio ownerās needs and show theme, making a special version of the āput your phone awayā message. Iāve also done mid-show/finale/directorās speeches from this same base offering.
Back during spring recital season, I would post every day in several Facebook groups to offer this service. Of the various posts Iād cycle between (ālet me helpā style, testimonial style, etc.), the one below consistently got the most traction/engagement. But, I donāt love the buttons it presses. Iām mainly playing Prestige/Passion in this realm, but this feels like it boops Alarm.
The post:
Dreading having to speak on stage at recital?
I’ve got you! A professional voiceover and custom script for pre-show, in-show, and other announcements will free you to do what you do best: cheer on your dancers!
(Link to book me and deadline for rush orders goes here)
Iām polishing posts for winter recital season, and I want to strike positive notes while retaining/improving traction. Itās a smaller season than spring, but Iām in to play.
So, Iād like to ask yāall for specific feedback or suggestions to reword this style of post. I think my issue is really the gut-wrench caused by the use of ādreadingā, but I haven’t yet hit on the right combo of words to get that level of energetic “yes!” without the “ugh!”. For the record, I also intend to do testimonial posts, variants of whatever we come up with here, and probably some with embedded audio samples (full demo is on the booking page already).
Thank you for any thoughts!
Thank you for posting this! The EASY fix is to just flip it. Instead of focusing on their BEFORE image — hitting their pain point (dreading to speak on stage at recital) — paint a picture of their AFTER experience. Something like, “Imagine your recital announcements flowing from your mouth with ease. No wondering if you forgot to mention something (or someone! Eep!). No stammering or sweating as you try to make it sound natural. EVERYTHING already figured out for you… available as prerecorded professional voiceover tracks AND a series of pre-show, in-show, and post-show scripts for you to use with confidence. Leaving you free to do what you do best: cheer on your dancers during a show everyone will always remember for all the right reasons!”
Wordier than you’ll want to be, but I wanted to pack it with options. All we need to do when we don’t want to go to the negative is show ’em the AFTER shot. š This is our GIGFTNT marketing language, BTW:
It doesn’t ignore pain points, but this is far more focused on where we’re headed vs. focusing on the version of you that exists before you buy AND if you don’t buy in. See the difference?
š
Fabulous, yes! You’ve given me a lovely garden from which to pick my words, no thorns required. š Thank you so much, Bon!
Can you confirm that the links are clickable?
https://quietentertainer.com/quickstart
and i figured out how to embed the google form on https://quietentertainer.com/private-coaching
So that is new if you all can take a look. I definitely just ripped it from Bonnie.
I wanted to put a calendly thing in there but I also kinda just want them to fill this out and then i’ll pick the calendar spot. I don’t want to have to put my whole calendar in here. PLUS, i think it’s a pro feature in calendly.
Yeah… but embedding the form still didn’t fix the problem Stephanie and I were telling you about previously. You’ve got the form too locked down for anyone to see it but you. So you need to adjust its permissions in Google.
Totally fine to not have an online scheduler on your site! Just for clarity, you don’t “have to put your whole calendar in here” — LOL — you literally just pick the days/times you want to make available to people and then that’s what they see when trying to schedule.
For YEARS in my business, we went back and forth via email off the coaching application they filled out, and figured out payment and scheduling “by hand.” It’s just something that — over time — you’ll want to automate because it’s a PITA and your energy needs to be less on the admin and more on delivery of the good stuff. š In due time.
You’re doing great! Congrats on figuring out the embed! It’s so great to capture people WHERE they are, WHILE they’re interested. š Just a few more tweaks!! Yay!
p. 2 (and it looks like throughout the doc, in this footer) — you’ve got your email address linked to your website rather than to a mailto:greg@quietentertainer.com link, which would launch an email.
p. 5 — clicking the image of the turntable leads to a site with a big warning about a security risk and encouragement to not continue through. Actually, it looks like any of the links for which you used qem.me instead of a full URL of your website, we’re getting that security risk warning.
In general, you may want to get consistent in what you’re using for links. You’ve got some with https:// (secure sites), some with http:// (insecure sites), some with www, some without www, and some are the aforementioned qem.me instead of quietentertainer.com — your consistency will be appreciated by everyone, will prevent these inconsistent results when clicking, and will help you build brand awareness with the ONE brand you want in people’s mind (brand YOU).
Also, just in general, when you share different URLs for the same THING, people think they have to click everything. If you make them identical between the text version of the link and the image version of the link, when the user mouses-over the image and sees its the same URL, they won’t need to click it a second time. This lowers frustration and of course the whole point of a great guide like this is to create EASE. š
NOTE: On the framework page, you have room to add text either above or below it (or both) and I’d love to see you write something about how these things on the previous pages are all in support of a comprehensive framework you specialize in taking people through. You don’t have to SELL anything with this text, but introducing the idea that all of these previous pages only deal with a PORTION of what it takes to make this dream career happen. (Meaning: Y’all need me!)
GREAT flip of the Zoom images of you and your happy client. š
Freakin’ love the photo in the library AND the logline about a DJ saving your life so now you’re going to save “my” DJ life. So so so good.
Finally, the very last page’s email address footer has NO link at all.
Okay, that’s everything with a fine-toothed comb! LOL š You’re doing great!
Piggy-backing Virgo here with some copy editing to add (it’s really one of my jams… see what I did there?):
P.4: Under MIND, you want āpossibly playā not āpossible playā.
P.5: Under BODY, you missed the final period.
P. 6: Under Speakers, youāve missed capitalizing āPlaying live?ā
P. 6: Under SOUL, itās the first time youāve not hyphenated one-on-one. Then, on P.9, youāve changed again to 1-on-1. For consistencyās sake, stick to one way! The last two are the ones that differ, so just switch them out.
You’re doing awesome, Greg!!
Bonnie, Sorry for my SLOOOOOWWWWW response. Wanted to thank you so much for the AMAZING TECH of creating a Framework. I really need to dig in the next few days and finish mine. Thanks Greg for being the impetus for all of us to benefit. I’ve been a bit out of it with surgery on the 19th, reunions in LA and SF and medical followup. AND … I have 26 editing projects in the shop besides all of my aircheck orders. I NEED TO GET ON THIS PROCESS OF CLONING MYSELF.
But, all is good. Posted to insta today with a renewed commitment. Posting on Insta as DemoReelPro. Changing up the look of my template for insta.
Will see how it goes.
Will be scheduling my first FOUNDATION and INTEGRATION topic FREEE SEMINARS this coming week.
Yayayayayayayay! Let us know where we can sign up to show up and support you!
