Hiromi Okuyama was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. She has been a working actress for 30 years. She studied improv at the Second City Training Center where she went on to co-lead and perform with comedy/improv troupes across the GTA. She took theatre courses in college and performed on stages across Toronto. Her favorite role was playing the lead, Grace, in FOB, written by David Henry Hwang. She was also part of the Fu-GEN Asian Canadian Theatre Company and wrote two plays which were workshopped there. Hiromi also studied Meisner Technique under John Riven. Her film and television credits include starring in the short film The Contest, which was shown at the Reel Asian Film Festival in Toronto as well as other festivals across North America. Hiromi is a voice actress too, with her most notable role being Farmer Yumi in the first Season of Paw Patrol. She has also appeared in hundreds of commercials. In alignment with the theme of Self-Management for Actors and Creating the Hollywood We Want, Hiromi has recently gained exposure on the social media scene. She is known as a “TikTok Mom,” writing short scripts talking about pop culture and mother/teen issues. She has a sizeable and wonderful GenZ fanbase. She is currently obsessed with Clubhouse where she is making incredible industry connections, including meeting Bonnie Gillespie on this platform. Hiromi is a mother of two and a martial artist achieving her 5th degree Black Belt in Shotokan Karate.
