Thank you- <3
Thanks Bon and man if there ever was a one to have to miss it WASN’T this one. gah! Been having such issues with my tummy/gastrointestinal in the past few weeks for some reason but I’m effin’ used to it and I think maybe my body feels some big changes coming and is….preparing the way, I dunno. Hmm. TMI perhaps but we’re family now so I don’t care. lol
And OMG I just got done with the replay so look for another longer comment GAH SO MUCH lol
I know I rarely comment. Gonna get better, but I I just wanted to say itβs1:30am and I just finished the video on discovering when the Sun will enter my 10th. My mind is blown. I learned something and it made so much sense. So excited to plan for 2021!!!!
Yayayayayayayay! Those moments that the brain goes, “You’ve GOT this!” are the best, aren’t they?
I really wanted to be sure I wasn’t overwhelming y’all but I felt like you were ready. π Glad you’re loving this and I’m so excited for the deep dive we’ll do next month! Make sure you’re at the livestream on the 18th too! π Woo HOO!
Love you!
I’m so bummed I missed this! When I got the replay email I felt even more out of the loop! So looking forward to diving in on this on all this on Sunday and throughout the week. Not sure what you’re talking about (yet) for the 18th but I will look it up and mark it on my calendar. Can’t wait for December.
Woo HOO! Enjoy your Sunday replay! π We missed you too.
WELL. If there was any Zoom to miss, this was not the one.
First, as a history major it was killing me that this kept going on and on and no one could hear me yell, “But America’s birthday is really July 2!!!!!” There was no internet or cars back then so word of the declaration took a few days to spread far and wide.
Second, I second a Chiron deep dive.
Need to go back rewatch, click the other links in the email, deep dive Planet Watcher and compare Placidus/Whole Sign chart types but so far what I heard based on House placements of other people, certain things feel right on for me. Looking forward to looking into it more.
Yay! Looking forward to learning what a-ha moments you have about the shifts (and stuff that doesnβt shift) with the house systems. Hope you can make both December events! We missed you!
Oh, and Iβd love for you to do a comparison chart of the official/recognized birthdate, time, and place of the United States vs. the actual. Same with Jesusβ birth or any other historical dates we celebrate one way vs. the other.
Iβm willing to bet very little changes in the outer planets (almost none, or a degree or two in most cases) and the changes in the closer-in, personality placements and numerology could actually explain a bit of disparity in what we celebrate (United States = a celebration of freedom) vs. what is true (the taking of a place from others, raping, killing, enslaving, etc.).
Oh, Bon, c’mon. You know I was gonna be doing that. I’m actually surprised only 2 changes happened, but they sure are big ones. I used the same Koch chart as the one you sent.
Here are the differences from correcting July 4 to July 2, 1776:
Moon went from 27 Aquarius in 3rd House to 28 Capricorn in 2nd House. So, changing from discussing a more rooted, inclusive and innovative community to hard work in long term leadership values. They put in the hard work on the 2nd to lead to a more “inclusive” society in the future. Seeing how non-inclusive we are and the massive amount of hard work regularly put in to the values of our leaders, that change in date seems accurate.
Mid Heaven went from 1 Libra in the 10th House to 28 Virgo in the 10th House. So, changing from fair and balanced collaboration in leadership to an always changing, self-critical detailed-oriented tasks. Sure seems like the deliberation process was very detail-oriented and in their mind made way for future “equal” collaboration. I’d say this change in date also seems accurate.
And please correct any mistakes/omissions/translations. However accurate/close I am, it is interesting how both days are accurate in certain ways but also how clearly the placements of July 2 lead to July 4th. Both placement changes resulted in the chatty air signs becoming hard working Earth signs. I think we’re so tired in 2020 because America has been putting in the hard work for 200+ years.
As for ME and my chart I have a couple questions.
1. In the Placidus chart my 1, 4, 7, 10 angles are closer to 45/135 degrees than 90. I know this is common, but does it affect the “angles” of those important houses? My 5 and 11 houses are closer to 90 degree angles to 1 and 7.
2. When I rendered my chart in whole sign, essentially all my houses changed because my house degrees aren’t very even and only 2 placements (Moon and Mars went from 10th to 9th) changed. I need to look more into how much those 2 placement changes feel, but could the house changes affect things that much? Some are only in a house by a couple degrees, so are split in the middle using Placidus.
Placidus
1st: Gemini (AC), Cancer
2nd: Cancer
3rd: Cancer, Leo
4th: Leo, Virgo
5th: Virgo, Libra (Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto), Scorpio
6th: Scorpio (Uranus), Sagittarius
7th: Sagittarius (Neptune), Capricorn
8th: Capricorn
9th: Capricorn, Aquarius (Venus, Sun)
10th: Aquarius (MC, Moon, Mars), Pisces (Mercury)
11th: Pisces, Aries, Taurus,
12th: Taurus (Chiron), Gemini
Whole
1st: Gemini (AC)
2nd: Cancer
3rd: Leo
4th: Virgo
5th: Libra (Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto)
6th: Scorpio (Uranus)
7th: Sagittarius (Neptune)
8th: Capricorn
9th: Aquarius (Venus, Sun, MC, Moon, Mars)
10th: Pisces (Mercury)
11th: Aries
12th: Taurus (Chiron)
In hearing you talk about Mercury in the 10th House, one of my first thoughts was, “hmmm, 99% of my tension is in my jaw/throat/neck… interesting, since my life’s purpose is to be a communicator and my entire life I’ve never felt heard and regularly have dreams where I can’t speak.” Where I get confused with my Mercury is that it’s in Pisces. To me, I read that as my communication is wishy washy and unreliable but I feel that’s a negative spin on it. I struggle to match up my personal style of communication with my Mercury being in Pisces. Maybe this long post is an example of it.
And hearing how Mars is more of an issue for me than Saturn also makes sense because when you talk about Saturn as the Dad planet, it doesn’t relate as much as Mars. I can feel Mars being a dick, but Saturn… I.. guess? Maybe I’m not really seeing how Saturn’s affecting me… or it’s just not as much of an issue.
Gonna compare more between the 2 charts and start poking around in Planet Watcher for December (already have my homework done) and map out my planetary returns. And thanks to my HoneyComb Astro Journal I can properly record my findings!
Woo HOO! Okay, this is a lot, so I’ll crack in on a few of the bigger chunks. π
Re: Placidus and “the angles” for your chart: We use the phrase “the angles” just to designate the start of houses 1, 4, 7, and 10. It’s not THAT they are X and Y axis; it’s that they are kick-offs to some very important and very deeply FELT houses, wherever the angles may actually be. It’s like the natal chart is split into 4 sections and 1, 4, 7, and 10 kick off those sections. (BTW, 1, 4, and 7 are the only numbers that are not written with curves, if you’d like to play with the numerological structure angle* as well.) * = Pun totally intended. Always. π
The impact of the house changes you’re seeing in Whole Sign vs. Placidus is in the WHERE of it all. Remember the formula: The placement/planet is the WHAT, the sign is the HOW, and the house is the WHERE. So, if Mars in Aquarius went to the 9th house instead of the 10th, it means how you fight, fuck, initiate, assert, etc. is less in your career/higher calling and more in your higher learning/travel pursuits. That’s what you’re looking to compare with these house shifts (because the signs aren’t changing).
So, don’t think of Pisces as wishy-washy as much as DREAMY. It’s other worldly. It’s fantasy-based. It’s in a space of no place or time. It’s musical and ethereal and not rooted in any sort of reality we know. So to have Mercury in Pisces could mean you do more intuitive interpreting of thoughts and language and feelings and writing. See how that tracks.
Same same saaaaaaaame about Saturn vs. Mars on the whole night chart vs. day chart dickishness. Yes! That was a big a-ha moment for me and that’s why I felt compelled to share that even though we were way over time and I know folks get overwhelmed with the density of our meetings already. Knowing that Mars is such a big player for me (vs. Saturn), I can relax about looking under the hood for all these Saturn lessons and that strictness and harshness and darkness and coldness it’s famous for. Instead, I’m looking at Mars for all its war energy and fire and heat and sharpness and cutting energy.
Remind me to show off my donut journal during December’s Zoom. I’ve listed off all the transits I need to be tracking (+ and -) and the ones I was experiencing at key moments in my life (like when my mother died, 20 years ago, for example; my Mars situation is nearly identical this year… explaining a LOT). I’m so glad you’re already using your Honeycomb Collective almanac to track stuff and make notes about what you’re experiencing so you can see how X feels for YOU rather than just looking at X from a theoretical position.
Fabulous all the way around! Woo HOO! Bring on the 2021 planning!!
You know what, the morning after I typed this I listened to episode 1 of Natalie’s podcast and in it she talks about all her Pisces qualities (Sun and Moon) and how it related to her calling. And the way she described Pisces made SO MUCH sense. She used the words:
Inspire
Healing on an emotional, spiritual and creative level
Going deep
Serving other people and uplifting their mood
Lack of boundaries
And I immediately thought, “Oh, yeah, that all makes sense. I fucking HATE small talk and any kind of communication that doesn’t have meaning to it.” I try to do all of those things in the work I create. A girl I coached in softball even yelled at the team, “Listen to Sarah! She doesn’t talk much but when she does it’s worth listening to!” So this whole Mercury in Pisces thing has finally clicked for me.
I should have clarified, in regards to the houses feeling all that different I meant in regards to the sign most associated with them where I have no placements. Going from Placidus to Whole I go from having up to 3 signs in a house to only one. But I assume the same process will ring true, “Does my x house feel more right in *this* sign or *that* sign?”.
One thing in Natalie’s podcast she mentioned that I was hoping you could clarify is what she called the “career calling line” aka Mid Heaven. I never really thought about the opposite end of that line. From my understanding it seems like our MC is mainly influenced by whatever sign it’s in, but there’s still some affect by it’s opposing sign, maybe like an 80/20 or 70/30 split. Is that a correct interpretation? So mine is in Aquarius, with the opposite end in Leo. My MC is still affected by Leo but not nearly as much as Aquarius. That’s how I’m hearing it.
You’ll have to ask Natalie to explain what her interpretation is of the Midheaven. It’s the kickoff to the 10th house and it’s — in most house systems — the 10th house’s primary sign (not just the MC itself). There’s nothing about the opposite house that defines your Midheaven any more than any other opposite sign has an impact on its partner. π
The IC kicks off the 4th house, so its kickoff is the house of house-and-home, maternal issues, family. Not career and higher calling or public eye at all.
So, if you have no placements, let’s go back to that formula: The placement/planet is the WHAT, the sign is the HOW, and the house is the WHERE. You still have how and a where, just no real what. π
Instead of saying — using myself — I love/value/see beauty (Venus) in a gregarious/showy/star-of-my-world way (Leo) with my community/the community of humans at large/an idealistic future for humanity (11th house), I would say just the “I have gregarious/showy/star-of-my-world energy in my community/the community of humans at large/an idealistic future for humanity house” part.
Got that? π
Hi everyone, I’m here for December! I just finished the prep video & work, and I’ve got a question. By my calculations, each house has a different length of time in which the Sun visits… is this variance correct?
Welcome, Stephanie! So glad you’re here. π Depends on the house system you’ve chosen to use!
Yay! Interested to see what lays here for me to discover this month!
I see I should’ve been more descriptive- I used Placidus.
(Side note to Keith: I got the notification for this one!)
I did a little more research here, and it seems that houses can be different sizes in Placidus. The metaphor persists- not everyone’s house is the same!
Hereβs something fun I learned last night:
Your conversations on the Zoom recording made me curious about what happened during my Saturn Return, because I never had a singular lightbulb moment. Turns out there was one retrograde right over my return point, and a second within 7 degrees the following year! Saturn clearly meant business, visiting my exact point 3 times, running that highlighter back and forth, and hanging out in the orb of influence for almost 2 years. Guess that explains the slow burnβ¦
Very interesting find, Stephanie! I wanna go back and look at mine now, too. I was only going to look forward but now I’m curious about how things lined up in the past.
Sooooooo, turns out my previous Saturn return was late in the night on October 14, 2010. A year to the date from when I arrived in Los Angeles. Interesting. And what happened on the actual day I arrived in 2009? Jupiter had just gone direct and conjuncted my Natal Sun and Mercury conjuncted my Natal Saturn. Very interesting. Booming in confidence and planning for the future. And then a lot of ups and downs from then on!
So, one of the things to look at is that “orb of influence” thing. This is where we learn how sensitive we (as individuals) are re: transits. The generally accepted orb of influence for calling an aspect official is 2ΒΊ. But some folks feel the effects of some of the gnarlier transits up to 10ΒΊ. Play with the dates that would represent each degree on either side of the EXACT conjunction, opposition, square, trine, sextile, etc. to see if your orb of influence is more or less broad. Also, if it varies per planet! Like, with a day chart, I’m going to be more sensitive to a Mars transit than to a Saturn transit. (That doesn’t mean my Saturn return wasn’t epic; it just wasn’t as painful and therefore I didn’t feel it as far out or as long after its point of being exact.)
So interesting, Sarah! I went on another hunt from your comment here too, and discovered 4 planets transiting my 10th house the day/time I attended my first on-camera acting class: Moon, Sun, Venus, and Jupiter (Jupiter actually coming in for a natal return). It wasn’t Easter, but it’s a fun Easter Egg!
Definitely!! Good tracking, Stephanie. Those three-times-to-be-sure-we-get-it transits are serious business. I’ve heard it described as running over a squirrel in your car, stopping because you feel like you hit something, reversing to try to see what it was (running over it again), then moving forward because now you know for sure you killed the dang thing… running over it a third time.
Torture. And not fast. But thorough! YES!!
HA. Thatβs a solid metaphorβ¦ Putting it all together now, I was definitely squirrel-adjacent, to the point I became completely burned out in that time period. By that final retro tap, I had two small-bone fractures (all healed now, all good!). So, yes. I feel the squirrel. Being a night-charter probably didnβt help!
It looks like my next one might not be as badβ¦ I’ll only have one retrograde within an orb. #BabysFirstTracking
The December 2020 write-up for those of you who love the written version as well: https://bonniegillespie.com/december-2020-by-the-astrologers-daughter Enjoy!
Bon, you flashed that fancy paid app to track your personal transits, but I’m wondering what the best way would be to dip my toe in first, and what I should begin to look for in learning to understand this.
As a fun let’s-see-test, I started hunting 2021 for a good headshot day (Leo moon, not void, tried to avoid days with lots of retrogrades or oppositions to that moon on PlanetWatcher), but I’m not sure how to check a possible day (or any day) against my own chart. Is it ruler & pencil time?
Certainly, purists will tell you that using an old-school ephemeris and your ruler and pencil is a good habit to get into, ever. π
I like using apps since I can advance the grid and the chartwheel day by day (just like I did with Planet Watcher, in the December Zoom prep vid), and most paid apps do a good job of nesting our natal chart in a bi-wheel with the current transits. You can also do tri-wheels, so for me that would be my natal chart, Keith’s natal chart, and the current transits (inner to outer rings of the chartwheel). Or I could even do my natal chart, my progressed chart, and the current transits. It’s all do-able… it’s just a bit overwhelming at first, so be willing to start with the free apps, OUTGROW THEM, and then explore the paid ones.
Of course, if you’re already at the paid app stage and you don’t like doing the calculations “by hand” (by looking at Planet Watcher and knowing what your natal placements are and what that means is happening, just by looking at that day’s positions), I’d recommend Time Passages (has a free and a paid app) and Astro Gold. Those are both for iPhone, but Google tells me they both also have Android versions.
As for your fun let’s-see-test predicting, I’d look not only for a Leo moon but also anything positive for Venus (both in the sky on its own AND in relationship with your chart). Since Venus is all about beauty (and love and value and money, of course), when it’s lining up well for our natal placements, we look our best… and the Leo moon of that month is a cherry on top. Numerology of a 3 or a 5 or an 8 will also help. I would also — if you’re looking at a long-term scheduling thing to take place ANYTIME in 2021 — make sure the sun is in a favorable house for this type of thing (which is, of course, what we’ll be plotting out in our December session).
Woo HOO!
Fab. Thank you for all of this! And thank you for checking on the Android side, too. This gives me a clearer direction to start from. Looking forward to the “house tour”! π
Ooh, I was so darn excited to get my YITS report this morning! So many fun things in there, and it all tracks really nicely. BIG YAY, Bon!!! Iβm still taking it all in, but the extra profections information was really interesting tooβ¦ time lords are a lot, but will be interesting to learn more about. Thanks for sharing that as youβre still studying it.
While I let my report soak in, I did have something coming into Aligned Advantage Iβd love to bring up: Quintiles (Q) and biquintiles (bQ). Iβm really curious how they work and present. I understand that not everyone has them, which makes me even more intrigued that I have one of each (Venus quintile Mercury, and Venus biquintile Neptune). Anyone else? I see you have one, Bon. Iβve done a little research, but itβd be great to get some storytime. π
We focus on the biggies, as aspects go: conjunct, oppose, square, trine, and sextile. π
For the same reason we don’t (yet) explore Chiron or the nodes (not to mention Ceres, Juno, Pallas Athena, and Vesta), we dive in on this work from a “let’s go deeper than we can with a horoscope we may read in the paper or at an Instagram account” perspective.
Certainly, I can support you in what you may want to learn or go deeper with (and as I mentioned in the replay above, we’re going to be doing some “Deep Dive in Chiron” type one-offs in 2021 to add to the work happening here in the membership without making it a part of the monthly Zoom), but just know that the biggies for the aspects in your natal chart, your progressed chart, and in current transits to either of those two charts (as well as geographically adjusted charts and more), the ones you need to know are conjunct (no clue why we say conjunct instead of conjoin; I’m sure a linguist could tell me), oppose, square, trine, and sextile. The smaller aspects are just that, SMALLER. Like… we-may-not-even-feel-them smaller. π
Same as how we look at “the big three” for our personality: Sun, Rising, Moon… and THEN look at the personality placements/planets: Mercury, Venus, Mars… and THEN look at the lesson planets: Jupiter and Saturn, and THEN THEN look at the generational planets: Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. We could do a master class on JUST “the big three” and the goal is to learn enough to be able to do something with the info about ourselves (and others) without overwhelming ourselves.
So glad you’re enjoying your YITS and love that the profections info intrigues. I’m still in my annual profections class, so I’m sure I’ll learn a lot more, but just being able to frame the years we’re experiencing as having a house-based focus and the ruler of that house having primary influence in our lives that year… well, it’s all fascinating!!
Oh, and yes, it’s the SIGNS that are always 30ΒΊ — houses vary in number of degrees based on which house system you’re using. It’s why the Whole Sign house system is so kind to beginners: Houses are always 30ΒΊ, just like the signs. π Handy… even if not quite as precise. Yay!
That’s fair! I was just curious because they aren’t widely mentioned… now I know the aspects don’t all carry the same weight, so to speak. π Yay all around. Thanks Bon!
Exactly. They’re called “minor aspects” and rarely will you hear them discussed since there are SO SO SO MANY big-ticket items that we DEFINITELY feel in life, like when transiting Mars squares your natal Mars forEVER and you have a day chart (*raises hand*) — you can’t miss shit like that. The minor aspects can float by like a weird conversation or a bad mood that doesn’t make sense. I’m all for tracking with that much granularity but if I put too much attention on it while I’m still learning SO much at once, it gets overwhelming.
That’s actually really descriptive and clear for me as a float-by. Thanks for that! And I’m sorry Mars is being so mean to you, lol. I almost feel bad admitting having very little reaction, but now I know why: my night chart has it in retro in this very sign.
OHMYGOD I wished I could have been there with y’all the full time but I just finished the replay and holy shit am I jazzed. So jazzed that I bought the little app thingie you mentioned Bon, the Astro Gold and now have to figure out how to use it lol. I have done my homework fully now (I think?) and rendered my chart and printed up both Placidus and Whole Sign and my results are as follows:
I have a Night Chart (but *just*–does it matter how close to the center line the sun is? Cuz mine is *just* under it)
My Houses you mentioned, in Placidus:
1st: Aries and Taurus
4th: Cancer
7th: Libra and Scorpio + Mercury and Venus
10th: Capricorn
My Houses in Whole Sign:
1st: Aries + Saturn, True Node, Chiron
4th: Cancer
7th: Libra + Mercury and Venus
10th: Capricorn
What does it all meeeeaaaannnn?? (jk, I am looking and learning and trying to make sense of it all) Also, since you said if you have a Night Chart, that “Saturn will be more of a dick to you than Mars”, I wonder what difference Saturn being in retrograde when I was born makes, if any? Do I possibly feel less bothered by Saturn’s usual Night Chart dickishness than the average person? Anyway, this Zoom was utter FIRE and I’m sorry my stomach had to instantly and urgently prevent me from being here live. I feel much less worried now about December’s call though, now that I’ve watched this. I was having major angst. Still have a lot to learn about Planet Watcher though, and I made the mistake of clicking on a side box of the site, where it said there was some glitch for the 30th and 31st of the month, and it took me to their Twitter page where there looked to be a bunch of Q Anon nuts talking about how people should not take the vaccine!! I started reading some of it but then decided to just gtfo of there. *shudder*.
Anyhoo, thanks for a lovely and packed Aligned call Bon and everyone! Much love and stay safe!
I’ve been reading about stelliums (stellia?) and I’m curious what your take is, Bon. Some sites say they can only happen in a single sign, others say only a single house, and still others say as long as they are within a certain degree they are a stellium regardless. Of course, this is could be affected by which chart technique you’ve chosen, as well as the individual person’s expression of it, but I’m interested to know your general thoughts. π
Tagged you in my InstaStories with a visual. π
Just pulled it up now. Thank you! π
Awesome! Bring me any follow-up Qs you have after seeing that comparison. π
That comparison answered it, Bon! π
A nice sticky stellium of 3 throwing a party in my 5th house… while Neptune kinda hangs out in the corner. Lol.
And I’ve anchored the InstaStory into my highlights so anyone can still see this even after the 24 hour period the story “lives” at Instagram. π
I don’t know why my question nested under yours, Kellye… but hi! Tech is being weird with me today. π
lol tech is *always* being weird with me, so it’s probably me. My 100% on-brand know-nothing tech knowledge is so strong it’s pulling you into my sad little analog vortex. hi and welcome! *waves*
LOL! Likely not why my internet or tv is being all glitchy-town today, but I laughed nonetheless. For the record, analog is sometimes the best way to go! π And thanks.
π The only thing you need to know about the year-end glitch at Planet Watcher is that they had some programming mishap a year or more ago that impacted year-end 2020 and rather than fix it (and potentially create new problems), they left it and at one point that link on the site went to a tweet in which they explained the glitch and their plans not to fix it and why. They were active on Twitter back then (seriously like early 2019 IIRC) but may not even use their own account anymore, so if it’s been phished by randos, that wouldn’t surprise me.
I’m glad you were able to enjoy the replay and I’m sorry your tummy is still giving you weirdness. Tune into that mind-body language to ask if there’s something your brain is trying to protect you from, and perhaps you’ll get some more info about what might be in need of a little more support or attention in your life. Also, Cancer = tummy, so that’d mean 4th house stuff for you, right? So, home and family and specifically mother energy.
Because you have Cardinal signs “on the angles,” you’ve been getting pounded by the “Cap stack” that they’ve been talking about for a few years now. That’s the whole thing we’re moving OUT of (thank GAWD) this month, as Saturn and then Jupiter exit Capricorn for Aquarius and give us a fucking BREAK with that pounding.
I’m excited to see what you learn as you explore the prep work for this month’s Zoom! And the livestream the Friday before it. Yay!
Yay to breaks from the Cap Stack! Boooo to mother energy cuz my relationship with my actual mother is pretty ….non existent really. I have had these intense stomach problems (direct pipeline to emotions for me) since I was a little girl. Was sick almost every day before school, and at school as a child. Well, not every day, but a LOT. It defined my childhood. So I’m no stranger to this experience, but seems no matter what I do to try and remedy it, it comes back, and stays, like an old shitty friend. I am going to think more deeply about your mind/body/brain protection suggestion though. Also, my mom IS a Cancer, if that matters. I should do her chart. bleh maybe not. lol
Okay, so that tummy-from-childhood thing, esp. with your mom being a Cancer, and with all of this being 4th house territory for you… it’s not an accident. And the cool part is, once you heal some of this mother wound, your physiological and physical symptoms will likely subside.
What was your tummy trouble trying to protect you from? Did it get you out of class with a bully? Did it get people to NOT pay attention to something else that needed attention but that you felt shame around? Did it allow for things you weren’t allowed otherwise in life? Start with the youngest memory you can come up with around it and don’t try to BRAIN it out. π Just ask your body and mind-body connection to provide some feelings about what that might be. Be open to receiving some downloads as you head to sleep and then see what you wake up knowing.
No need to do your mom’s chart unless you’re feeling overjoyed by the idea. Better to work on yours anyway. π
What would’ve defined your childhood (that’s a BIG statement) had it not been your ailments?
Stuff to start playing with. π {{{hugs}}}
This is really really helpful to me. I’m just getting ready to lay down to go to sleep too, so I will do what you suggest. I might even feel like *journaling* (whaaaatttt??) when I wake up, about this. Man, it’s almost a real relief to hear you say what you just said. Thank you. <3
I just wanted to share with y’all that I just did something (that kind of hurt cuz I paid for all these) that combined a lesson from the 100 Days, with the Aligned Hustle Calendar: I just looked at the calendar, saw that it was a 9 day, which we all know means DECLUTTER! and remembered that day where AA photos were discussed and how less is more basically, so I went in and replaced my old shots with my 3 new headshots (which was my plan to do today anyway) BUT: then I DELETED ALL THE OTHERS. Gah. I was excited to get those lifestyle photos and in my excitement posted like 10 of them. But I just took them all off, except for 2 that reinforce my brand and look more like headshots anyway. That was HARD. But, Imma trust. Trust that less is more, and trust that this is now communicating who I am with laser focus. And someone, soon, is gonna see that.
Just thought I’d share because I think this *might* be the first real time I really consciously paired a task with the aligned calendar. And I’m proud of that. π
Applauding you, Kellye!!!
Thanks! It felt good! Weird that it’s taken me this long to *actually* put this knowledge to work but, it is what it is and I am into full acceptance of myself these days. π
It doesn’t strike me as weird, I think it’s time for a celebration. π
I’m working on that too… teaching myself that it’s fine to be ready when I’m ready, and that it’s cool if I’m not ready (with a side of “is this a JFDI thing, or are we actually needing more time?”).
I ran myself through this just yesterday (8 day- step into your power) alongside a test run of planetary hours to get new bios up… finally. Mercury & Venus served me well!
Excellent advice. And good on you for your own aligned work!! Woot!
Woot! π
I am standing on my chair cheering you, goddesswoman!!!!! WELL DONE!!!! Enoughness shining through! Love it! Love you! (Love exclamation points… clearly.) π
I discovered another fun little Easter Egg… after reading Justine’s comment in the Brandprov prompt about being born on a cusp, I did a little Googling. Turns out I’m on a cusp too… the first day of the cusp of Libra. I know we talk about everything being on a spectrum, but I imagine even being on the edge would pop a little extra energy toward the “inhumanity” Libra brings in my chart, Bonnie. Ha!
Fun thing is, there’s really no such thing as a sign cusp. π You’re — buy degree and minute (and second, if you want to get all the way down to it) a sign. But you CAN be born on a house cusp, and of course that brings the whole different-house-systems thing into play as well.
What I’ve been digging in on most recently are decans. LOVING this. So, yes, you would be a more Libra-like Virgo because you’re in the third Virgo decan. Also, you’re in the Virgo decan that is ruled by Mercury (I am in the Cancer decan that is ruled by Mercury too. Hai, frenz!) so see how that feels as well as the cuspiness of it all. π
Isn’t this fun?
Ah, well isnβt that interesting! Iβve never heard of a decan… but thatβs very cool. I’ve learned something new! How many decans in a sign, three? Thatβd mean certain signs can get boosts from only certain planetsβ¦ At any rate, it does further explain why my natal Mercury expresses the way it does! Fun indeed. π
Right. Three decans per sign, each with its own ruling planet (so like a subset of the ruling planet of the sign already, and then of course there’s the house ruler to consider as well). Here’s some reading on ’em if you’d like to explore more. And this map uses only the North Node and South Node (which is on my list for a deep dive in 2021, along with Chiron) to show how the decans express (with famous people as examples).
Cool, thank you!
I have a follow-up question!
Is it possible for other placements to also be in decans, or is this specifically a Sun thing? That’d get pretty granular, but I’m curious. π
I can only imagine that YES, any placement could be read through the lens of its decan rather than it’s whole sign. For SURE that’s getting granular, with all the rulership shifts for the decans and then the house rulers and the traditional vs. modern planetary rulership of it all… but I’d certainly not be surprised to learn that there’s a whole subset of astrology that goes way deep on this. I mean… if we can break the hours of the day into planetary hours (see the most recent Woo-Woo Wednesday from Expansive Capacity [cross-posted here, for non-EC‘ers]), we can get uber-micro with anything!
Whether we BENEFIT from going that granular every time we can is another issue, of course. π Part of why I scheduled learning Chiron and the Nodes for 2021. π I know my tendencies to overdo ALL THE THINGS I can learn at once, so I put a leash on myself (and I’m great with boundaries).
Cool! I’m trying to understand rulerships a bit more, so this helps. Thanks for quelling that curiosity!
And valid point with the ROI on deep diving (you probably know I have a tendency to do that on occasion, too π ). I’m pretty pumped up on Mercury rulerships in the area we’ve just discussed anyway, so the decan likely wouldn’t tip any scales.
*the decan of another placement wouldn’t tip scales, that is.
I just had to quell my curiosity with Mercury. If that link is accurate, my Mercury is in a Jupiter decan. I literally laughed out loud- that makes it even bigger energy. More glitter, Jupiter! π
I am loving witnessing your enthusiasm over all this expansion!
I just have to say that I finally figured out how to deal with my primary anxiety with Covid which is actually not a fear that I will get sick or die, but that the type of people I want to be friends with in my region might want to extend mask wearing or distancing past the point of vaccines. Note, I am not an anti masker, I have not once attempted to go unmasked where against policy or law nor will I ever! But my Scorpio in Venus says, you live in my town? I got vaccinated and you had a chance to be? So we are hanging out in person without masks and hugging, or goodbye. And with all the Sag and Gemini in my chart a few people have said, “What will you do if it turns out that the liberal theatrical NYC people just think it’s important to continue with masks and distancing? How will you adapt? And I thought about it and after careful research my answer was,” I moved from Merle Haggards Oildale to a university town in TX when Oildale wasn’t enough, and when my car and front door were vandalized in TX because I advocated for the AIDS quilt, I moved to NYC. And if NYC becomes a city of socially anxious introverts who hate touching or seeing and exposing faces, OK, of to New Zealand. ”
Obviously what I want is to remain in NYC and have a satisfyimg social and work life without masks or distancing and I think that’s likely, but I feel like I need to be prepared for the worst and if that’s how NYC and the LA theater community go, I want more from life than just managing claustrophobia and hug deprivation.
And here’s the shocker… Taurean change hating husband so hates the change in my spirits and wants old me back, when I put this to him, he said, I can’t make this happen and don’t know how to make this happen but if this is what it takes for you to get back to you, and you can tell me what I need to do to support it, I will do it and I will go.
Again I want to keep manifesting that what I really want is a vibrant and fulfilling social life in NYC but if ultimately masking and distancing normalizes…at least I love being able to look at my chart and say, “OK, I see why first of all I don’t value friendships with barriers, and second, see why my primary way of adapting is to move”.
Well spotted! Here’s to you “getting back to you,” whatever it is that feels the most wonderful at any time. π I’m glad your hubby wants that for you as well.
Take a look at some of your transits during those times of “pick up and move” too. You may notice a pattern not just of your natal placements but also of the transits that seem to kick up the most of that IN you. π
Definitely will!!!
A fun crossover/synergy game for anyone interested:
I went through my Expansive Capacity tests results again and (unintentionally) found myself constantly pinpointing where in the stars those traits were (and ultimately how all those tests overlap in their own Venn Diagram). It helped to get into my brain the astro things we’re learning while also reassessing where I’ve made progress in my “deficiencies” because of all this new astro awareness and alignment.
For those that haven’t taken the tests they are: 4 Tendencies, Fascinate Advantage, Flow Profile, Love Language, Myers-Briggs Personalty Assessment and Sacred Money Archetype.
Ah, that’s awesome! I definitely have a lot of crossover from test to test, but I haven’t yet laid everything out on paper directly alongside my chart. Sounds like fun!
Something like this?
Yeah… I’ve been tracking y’all since 2018 formally (and informally for way longer, before I hired a psychometrician to help get really specific about what the data was showing us).
Add to that list o’ tests the newest one (and one of my very favorites), the VIA Character Strengths Test. It’s so damn good that we now make that a part of orientation (but not the intake assessment/application process, because we need to steer context a bit with this particular instrument).
Anyway, anyone who’s interested in those assessments, they’re all linked at the application button you’ll find on the Expansive Capacity page of our site. And should you not wish to ACTUALLY apply but feel like filling all of that out anyway, just put in the notes that you’re not really applying so we won’t follow up to get you enrolled for January’s deep dive. π
Oh, and the VIA Character Strengths Test is here. SUCH good stuff! And OF COURSE y’all know I loved/love learning where we really do start to see some patterns that play through with astrology and numerology and personality assessments. There’s a really fun MBTI-cross-referencing-of-planetary-placements grid I shared at Instagram last year if you’d like to play with that for funsies.
oh my god. i am humbled. in the good way. I almost can’t fathom what’s actually going on here lol.
I’ll be taking the VIA test now. Looking forward to my first Expansive Capacity Zoom tomorrow. π
Girl! The VIA test is in the orientation of Expansive Capacity!! Did you miss it there?!? You know I’ve gotchoo!!
Yay. More tests!
I had a nice demo of some chart-y goodness last night… I was talking to some family, and wound up in an almost-argument because they weren’t hearing my answer to this lame tax thing (they were trying to help, but I knew I was right). I’m pretty level-headed in conversation/argument (thanks Mercury in Libra!), but I do know I can get upset when I’m not heard. It dawned on me last night that the fast-rising frustration I experienced may have just been my Leo AC… she repeatedly roared, wasn’t heard, and so she shut down. That feels so much better than scolding myself for getting upset like my Virgo wants to do.
Just a fun “in the field” experience I wanted to share. π (I can classify it as fun because everyone’s fine, lol)
Well spotted! When we feel an ego hit, it’s always good to check the 1st house, wherever Leo might be, and if those are one and the same, FOR SURE I would say you’re reading this exactly right. And WOO HOO for living through it, finding a woo lesson, and sharing it here. Yay and thank you! π
Yay!! I’m chuffed that I’m starting to recognize it off the page, lol. Woo-woo hoo!
I finally got a chance to catch up on this! Okay, I’m going to attempt to interpret it myself…Amelia part 3:
1ST HOUSE
Placidus – Taurus (teeny tiny bit Gemini) chiron, AC and sun
Whole – Taurus, chiron and AC
So, I appear to people and self identify as stable, put together, substantial (that is definitely my brand – nurse, mother, social leader!)
4TH HOUSE
Placidus – about halfway between Cancer and Leo
Whole – Leo
I am the center of attention in my family? Hmm..well, I am an only child and both my mother and my husband seem to go out of their way to ensure I never feel second fiddle to my kids. lol. I don’t think I encourage that, but maybe I subconsciously do? :\
7TH HOUSE
Placidus – Scorpio (teeny tiny sliver of Sagittarius) with Jupiter
Whole – Scorpio with Jupiter (makes so much sense)
I am an intimate partner but I’m quick to suspicion? Many of the fights my husband/business partner and I have revolve around me not taking his constructive criticism well. I get angry that he doesn’t lead with praise and he gets angry that I get angry about his very constructive feedback (He’s a Capricorn). lol
10TH HOUSE
Placidus – About halfway between Capricorn and Aquarius, MC
Whole – Aquarius, MC
My career/higher calling and how an audience would perceive me is innovative, unusual, inclusive and authentic. I feel this is my core. <3
How did I do?
REALLY well!! I’m impressed, lady!! Woo HOO!
So since the 4th house is the one feeling least like a slam-dunk when you look at Leo (Whole Sign interpretation), let’s take a look at the Cancer possibility. This would mean more of a house/home REALLY being important, as Cancer is allllllll about feeling safe, nurturing, home, security, mothering, etc.
Personally, I think Leo tracks, if you’re an only. Leo is the star of the world, so being an only child would align with that when it comes to how you showed up in the home you came from. If it’s more of a Cancer vibe though, it’s going to be more about the family life and home you CREATE than the one you come from (that’s a biggie with Cancer; transforming the family of origin foundation into a family of choice reality).
I’m really impressed especially with your interpretation of Scorpio in the 7th house. That suspicion is so much about, “What about me might they know and how might they someday use it against me and how can I get out ahead of that” than outright jealousy. At its best, of course, Scorpio 7th means you go VERY deep in your connecting with a partner and know them inside and out. It’s very intimate. π
Woohoo! I’m getting it! π How exciting!
Leo in the 4th house does track more than Cancer, but I just assumed that was a natural only child, first love and mom vibe. The minute I sit on the couch, I can have both kids and my dog competing for lap space. My husband is almost obnoxiously enamored with me since I was 16. As the youngest grandchild, I was my grandmother’s favorite. I guess that is all Leo in the 4th house. I was just fighting the idea of me “needing” to be the center of attention. lol
I have an idea for future deep dive….I realized with my Mars in Aquarius my happiest path to conflict resolution is talking things out but I was raised with the idea that conflict is ultimate and horrible and final. And in the 10+ years I have had an astro.com I never did my parents’ charts? You know me, I will do that on my own anyway and figure some things out but I definitely think examining our charts v. our parents’ charts could be really relevatory.
Go for it! π I feel there are ethical issues with formalizing curriculum around doing other people’s charts. It’s fine if we each — in our own curiosity — go look at our family members’ charts or calculate their numerology. But to make that the focus of the work feels sticky. (And the reparenting part of the work is of course Expansive Capacity territory.)
Thank you for pitching it, though! I’m glad you’re seeing where some learned rules don’t align with your planetary settings, knowing you can make a different choice whenever you’d like to lean into whichever is feeling better. Yay!
Question: are we supposed to have both workbooks totally completed by tomorrowβs Aligned call or are we *doing it* during the call? My computer is fucked lately and keeps shutting down randomly as if the battery is dead but itβs not aghhhβso I missed the live yesterday and I am watching and pausing the replay and am totally overwhelmed at the moment between constantly having to shift between my phone and computer. Will we have time to go through some of this tomorrow or are we expected to have all of the workbook work sewn up 100% before the Zoom?
Just a lil overwhelmed and βoh my god I need a new computer that I canβt affordβ, over here. Ooof. lol
Here’s my assignment for you, Kellye: Breathe. Relax. Chill.
It’s a Pisces moon and your comments during the livestream and now here are laced with just enough self-punishment that I feel the need to TELL YOU that you are required to chill.
None of this is that big a deal. This is all fun stuff we love doing and when it’s not feeling like a hug covered in puppy kisses with a sprinkling of the magic of the best song we’ve ever danced to, we’re not aligned for it and we need to step back a sec.
CHILL.
Just show up. Unless that feels like shit because your computer is being a dick. Then don’t. Seriously no big deal and there’s no reason to push in HARDER on something that’s already feeling overwhelming and stressful.
Hug yourself. Take a nap. Take a bath. Relax. I love you.
Ha. Message received. Ok. I think I will go ahead and take a nap. See you tomorrow. Thank you β€οΈ
I havenβt listened to the December Zoom yet (and I will before the Zoom today), but my questions (if not answered in the Zoom call are: what is true norde and how does it affect you based on your sign? And, how can you utilize other parts of your chart to make up for a midheaven sign that doesnβt seem to be supporting you? (ex. Pisces)
Thanks!
Yay! Pisces Midheaven just has way more dreaminess to it. Ambition not at all in the patriarchal sense. Far more dreamy and fantasy-based, driven by the music and magic that only you can tune into, rather than by things that are more traditionally associated with DRIVE. It’s lovely!
True Node (North Node, South Node) is — along with Chiron — on the calendar for my 2021 deep dives. π I look forward to all I learn about these newer components to my astrological study and of course I’ll share with you here.
Meanwhile, anything that you learn as you go out into the world to explore those things, do share with us! π There’s territory for everyone to cover, and never run out of material, truly! I love that!
Very much looking forward to the zoom today and also very bummed that I don’t think I’ll be able to see the Great Conjunction tomorrow evening. Based on the past few days it appears to be below the horizon (or very, very close to it) where I’m currently located. Been desperately trying to find a location to drive to that’s high enough!
I feel your pain… I think I’m going to get snowed out. But I did find this livestream from Arizona’s Lowell Observatory, if it helps: https://youtu.be/XrRcfaWutLQ
Awesome. Thank you. I’m planning on driving to a place tonight that might work. Or it could end up being too overcast anyway, we’ll see.
Ooooooh thank you! π
No problem! The benefits of living in such a connected world online now. I certainly didn’t want to miss it myself!
Hi, Bon! When I asked the question on the Live yesterday, I used the wrong word (I said degrees, and meant minutes). Here’s the corrected version of my question. If you don’t get this before the call today, I’ll ask it on the call. π
Thanks! <3
On January 1, 2021, My MINUTES of the Sun starts at 30 not 38 minutes like yours. How does that happen and how does it affect things?
Looking forward to today’s Zoom- chart in hand, homework done, exploration mode on, questions ready! π See you all soon…
