Now we’re going to work to be our best at our worst.
This is about identifying ways out of creative blocks before they happen… so that when they happen, we’re not forced to stay in those blocked places for very long.
Today’s work: Identify your go-to for kickstarting you OUT of blocked creative energy and into a state of flow. What’s the most consistent option you’ve got? What else works? What works now and then but is still worth keeping on the list in case you ever need it?
AH! Yes! Perfect analogy, because I totally have been staring down a giant show bible/agent targeting block that feels entirely too difficult to overcome lately.
Some things that help me flow:
– Singing DISNEY SONGS!
– Working out, whether its pushing myself with weights or trying to stretch a little further in my yoga practice.
– Writing, especially typing. As long as I just start, things flow out and I don’t really think about what I wrote until I take a break or stop for the day. (Hence why half my posts end up as novels )
– Sketching out clothing and costume designs, especially when based on my favorite book characters
Hmm hmm. I definitely will have to reflect on this some more and see what else helps me flow, because I know there are more things that aren’t coming to mind at the moment.
Good! Keep adding to the list. And as it grows, keep leaning into those things that kickstart flow for you so you can get IN THERE when you need to. That “on demand” access to creative flow is sooooooooo badass!
Shit to do when shit goes wrong (oh, how I adore the title of this list):
Dance! I’m an old school raver. Started listening to house music when I was in my early 20s and have never looked back. Dance gets me in the FLOW! This is something I can implement when I’m on set because I can put on my headphones in between set ups and DANCE!
Listen to Abraham Hicks! Always triggers feelings of relaxation and clarity.
Tapping
Collaging
Baking
Love this list! X
I love this list too! I can so see you dancing between takes! Yes!
Hm, I just found there is a difference between things that get me into flow and things that take me into full alignment, which is a great basis for flow.
Straight into Flow:
– Animals (which explains a lot, because I currently don’t have a pet 🙁
– Dancing
– Singing
Things that get me into alignment:
– Abraham-Hicks
– Binaural Beats
– Yoga
– reading a good book
